Rum

Rum, the sweet and spicy beverage has routes that run as deep as the 17th and 18th century in Scotland. With several refineries popping up this led the way for the "Golden age of sugar" in Scotland .The first most popular use was to be added to the Glasgow Sherbet. The drink consisted of water, sugar, lemon and lime and it was only when rum arrived in Scotland, that it was added to this punch. Rum now is on the rise again in Scotland and is tipped to have as much, if not more success than the recent gin boom.
